Swaminarayan was born on 28 December 1805 in Chhota Udaipur, Gujarat, India. He was the 21st Tirthankara of the Swaminarayan Sampraday and the founder of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha.
