The Mahabharata is one of the two major ancient Indian epics, the other being the Ramayana. It is an ancient Hindu scripture and a cornerstone of Indian culture.

The Mahabharata is an epic poem that tells the story of the Pandavas and the Kauravas, two groups of cousins who engage in a great war.

The story begins with the story of the blind man Visvarupa, who is sent by the god Indra to test the virtue of King Dhritarashtra.

  • • The epic poem consists of 18 parvas (books) and over 100,000 shlokas (couplets).

The epic poem also features many important characters, including Krishna, the divine prince who serves as the charioteer of Arjuna; and the Pandavas' half-brother Duryodhana, who is determined to defeat the Pandavas.
